Ultrasound Demonstration with Patient Volunteers: Viral Thyroiditis

In this first of four videos demonstrating ultrasound technique in patients with thyroid disease, radiologist Jill Langer, MD, and endocrinologist Susan Mandel, MD, examine a patient with viral (or subacute) thyroiditis. A rare form of thyroiditis associated with upper respiratory infection, viral thyroiditis causes pain in the thyroid. Drs. Langer and Mandel reveal the classic signs of subacute thyroiditis by comparison to a normal thyroid.
