Advances in Small Bowel Imaging

Laurel Fisher, MD, evaluates the breadth of small bowel imaging, examining the qualities of barium imaging, cross sectional imaging (multiphase CTE and MRE), deep enteroscopy and luminal imaging with wireless capsule endoscopy. Examining the latter in focus, Dr. Fisher discusses the capsule devices currently available, their respective advantages and differences, recent technical improvements in the field of view, battery life, frame rates and lighting and the expansion of indications for these devices. Summary includes a discussion of future modalities for small bowel imaging.
