Personalized Preventive Cardiovascular Care

Penn's Preventive Cardiovascular Program seeks to prevent the onset, recurrence and progression of heart and vascular disease. The multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and dietitians provides patients with personalized preventive care. The team partners with patients to identify cardiovascular risks and develop customized plans of action that fit every patient's lifestyle.

Penn is also pioneering advances in preventive cardiovascular medicine, leading the development and evaluation of novel therapeutic, diagnostic, and prognostic approaches to atherosclerotic disease. Patients may be eligible for a clinical trial if certain criteria are met.

Emil deGoma, MD, medical director, Penn's Preventive Cardiovascular Program, discusses the importance of preventive measures when it comes to cardiovascular disease. He also brings to light some well known, but less traditional risk factors that can have an effect on a heart risk assessment.
