Course Overview

A case-based discussion program on state of the art management of valvular heart disease. The format will involve cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, advanced care providers, and fellows in training presenting and discussing up to 10 cases that span the range of valvular heart disease.

This course has been developed to meet the educational needs of cardiovascular specialists, cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, fellows, residents, students and other healthcare professionals interested in valvular heart disease.

Specialties - INTERNAL MEDICINE - Cardiovascular Disease, INTERNAL MEDICINE - Interventional Cardiology, SURGERY - Surgical Critical Care, THORACIC AND CARDIAC SURGERY

Objectives

At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. Identify the most appropriate treatment options for patients with valvular heart disease.
  2. Discuss with patients the options available to them for their particular disease.
  3. Explain which treatments are guideline-directed and which ones are investigational.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

DESIGNATION OF CREDIT

Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 7.75 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.

Nurses: This program provides 7.75 contact hours.
