Penn Telestroke

In this video, Penn neurologist Martin T Mullen, MD, describes the Penn Telestroke program, a video conferencing innovation that permits stroke specialists at Penn Medicine to have a reinforcing and supportive presence at partner hospitals that might not otherwise have the expertise to provide timely evaluation of patients experiencing a stroke. The Telestroke program is particularly valuable because the effects of stroke are readily apparent to the trained observer, and can progress rapidly in the absence of appropriate care. The program is staffed by physicians trained in vascular neurology, who are available to referring physicians throughout the process of care.
